Reviviendo el terreno en barbecho Aceptar el tiempo del Cielo para un nuevo crecimiento

As leaders, we often encounter areas in our lives that have become like fallow ground—unplowed, unproductive, and sometimes even hardened. This may be in our emotional state, our relationships, our ministries, or even our professional spheres. When the soil of our hearts is fallow, it can lead to stagnation, frustration, and ineffective leadership. However, just as a farmer prepares the soil for a bountiful harvest, we too must tend to our hearts. The call from Hosea 10:12 reminds us that we are to plant seeds of righteousness and expect a harvest of love.

To do this, we must first examine the fallow ground in our hearts and allow God to do the necessary work of breaking up the hardened areas. This means confronting the areas in our lives where we have neglected growth—be it through pride, unforgiveness, bitterness, or doubt. These emotional and spiritual blockages hinder us from being effective leaders and fully walking in our divine calling.

What is Fallow Ground?

Fallow ground represents an uncultivated, neglected area in our life. It can exist in our body, soul, or spirit. Just as land left unplowed for too long becomes hard and unproductive, parts of our heart, mind, and soul can become hardened to God’s voice and His transformative work. The good news is that just as a farmer knows when it’s time to break up the soil, God knows when it’s time to break up the fallow ground in our lives.

A Time for Preparation

In leadership, preparation is key. Before we can effectively lead and sow seeds in others, we must first allow God to cultivate our hearts. This preparation involves surrendering to God’s timing and opening our hearts to His guidance. It’s a season of seeking Him, of aligning ourselves with His purposes, and of praying for a fresh outpouring of His righteousness. Like a farmer who sows seeds in faith, we must sow in faith that God will bring forth a harvest.

Aligning with Heaven’s Timing

We often operate in a fast-paced world where everything seems urgent, but in the Kingdom of God, timing is everything. When we align with heaven’s timing, we break up the fallow ground at the right moment, sow the right seeds, and prepare for a divine harvest. Just as a farmer waits for the right season to plant, we too must be patient and trust that God is working in us and through us to bring about His will.

Preparing for Divine Breakthrough

When we break up the fallow ground and sow seeds of righteousness, we position ourselves for divine breakthroughs. The harvest we can expect is not just a personal one but one that impacts those around us—our families, teams, communities, and even our businesses. A heart that is aligned with God’s will and purpose becomes a fertile ground for love, compassion, wisdom, and vision.

The seeds we plant today, whether in our relationships, careers, or spiritual walk, are an investment in the future. We may not always see the immediate results, but when we sow in faith and righteousness, we are assured of a harvest in due season.

A Personal Story: Sowing a Seed of Love in the Face of Unforgiveness

There was a time when I had to deal with an extremely difficult situation at work—one that forced me to confront the hardness of unforgiveness in my heart. I worked for a boss who was often abusive in his language and posture towards me. His words were harsh, and his actions left me feeling belittled and defeated. I had every right, in my mind, to harbor anger and resentment, and the temptation to respond with bitterness was overwhelming.

But as I sought God in prayer, He reminded me of the importance of breaking up the fallow ground in my heart. I had been holding onto unforgiveness, which had created a barrier between me and God’s call on my life. I realized that I needed to sow a seed of love in this challenging environment, despite the wounds I had received.

One day, after a particularly hurtful interaction, I chose to respond differently. Instead of retreating into defensiveness or harboring resentment, I decided to approach my boss with kindness and humility. I expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work with him, choosing to focus on the positive aspects of our work together. Though I didn't receive any immediate acknowledgment or change from him, I knew I had taken the step of faith in sowing a seed of love.

Over time, this act of sowing a seed of love—breaking up the unforgiveness in my heart—opened the door for a shift in my own heart and in my relationship with my boss. While the situation didn’t instantly transform, I experienced peace in knowing that I had done what God had called me to do. In the end, the harvest was not just a change in my professional environment, but also a deeper peace and spiritual growth in my own life.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What areas of my heart as a person or in leadership need to be cultivated and prepared for growth?

  1. How can I align more closely with God’s timing in my leadership decisions?

  1. In what ways can I cultivate a spirit of righteousness to impact those I lead?

  1. What spiritual blockages do I need to surrender to God in order to experience a breakthrough?

  1. Is there a situation in my life where I need to sow a seed of love, even in the face of hurt or unforgiveness?

Scripture Focus: Hosea 10:12 (NLT)

I said, ‘Plant the good seeds of righteousness,
and you will harvest a crop of love.
Plow up the hard ground of your hearts,
for now is the time to seek the Lord,
that he may come
    and shower righteousness upon you.’

Closing Prayer:

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the reminder in Your Word that we are called to sow seeds of righteousness. I come before You today, asking that You break up the fallow ground in my heart. Remove the hardness, the distractions, and the hindrances that keep me from fully walking in Your will. I align myself with Your timing, trusting that You are preparing me for a divine breakthrough. May the seeds I sow today bear fruit in my life and the lives of those I lead. Guide me to be a faithful steward, sowing in faith and anticipating a harvest of love. In Jesus' name, Amen.

By recognizing the importance of breaking up the fallow ground in our hearts, we embrace a life of divine preparation and breakthrough. May we lead with a spirit that is always ready to cultivate, sow, and expect a bountiful harvest of love.
