Lecciones de liderazgo en tiempos de crisis y desamor

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.” — Isaiah 43:2 

This morning, I woke up to heartbreaking news. 

A young woman in our church—a single mother, hardworking, faithful, and full of hope—had just endured a devastating storm. A tree had fallen on her home during a sudden weather outbreak that left over 100,000 homes in our city without power. In a matter of hours, her two freezers filled with carefully stored food, and her refrigerator, stocked for the days ahead, stood powerless. Her provision, her planning, her stability—all of it was at risk. 

But her story is far from one of defeat. 

This woman had once been homeless, living in a shelter with her child. Through grit, prayer, and God’s grace, she went from temporary housing to becoming a homeowner. Her modest house—what I affectionately call her Purple Palace—sat on a sizable lot in a beautiful corner of our city. It wasn’t just a home—it was a testimony. A symbol of her resilience and God’s faithfulness. 

Yet in a single storm, everything she had built seemed to hang in the balance. 

Storms Will Come—But They Don’t Get the Final Word 

As leaders—whether in ministry, the marketplace, or our communities—we often pour ourselves into building, preparing, and securing the future. We steward resources, plan carefully, and work diligently to protect those we lead. But one storm—a diagnosis, a job loss, a betrayal, a setback—can shake it all. 

Scripture doesn’t hide the storms. In fact, it prepares us for them: 

Each storm was different. Each vessel had a different outcome. But in every case, God’s hand never lifted. 

Provision Is Temporary—But Vision Is Eternal 

Here’s a word to the hoarders, the planners, the builders—those of us who find comfort in what we’ve stored up: All it takes is one storm to reveal where our true trust lies. 

The food might spoil. The bank account might dwindle. The ship might sink. But our God—the One who gave the provision—also gives vision, wisdom, and sustaining grace to rise again. 

Our job is not just to stock the shelves of life, but to anchor ourselves in the One who calms seas and commands storms.

Father God, 

You are the Master of the wind and the waves. You are our Shelter in the storm and our Anchor in the unknown. Today, we bring to You every place in our lives that feels shaken or threatened. Teach us to lead from a place of peace—not panic. Help us to trust You, whether the storm is raging or the skies are clear. Strengthen our faith to endure, our wisdom to navigate, and our hearts to remain soft before You. May we, like Paul, reach our destination in purpose. Like Jesus, may we carry peace wherever we go. And like Jonah, may we always return to the call You placed upon our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
