Los pasos que detienen el giro y desbloquean el ritmo del cielo
Introduction: A Song with No Melody, a Dance with No Steps
My grandmother used to say, “Every step you take either builds your legacy or delays your destiny.”
Years later, I found myself humming one of my old school favorites—Billy Preston’s “Will It Go Round in Circles?” It’s got groove, soul, and a beat you can’t ignore. But as I listened to the lyrics again recently, I heard something deeper. Preston sings, “I got a dance, I ain’t got no steps. Gonna let the music move me around.”
How many of us are moving, but not led? How many are dancing, but not aligned to the rhythm of our calling?
In leadership and in life, the steps we take matter. They form the choreography of our influence, our integrity, and our impact. If we want to stop spinning in purposeless circles, we must step with intention—ordered by the Word, timed by the Spirit, and aligned with heaven’s rhythm.
The Definition of “Step” – More Than Movement
Let’s consider the word step. It’s easy to assume a step is simply a physical action—one foot in front of the other—but in the language of leadership and legacy, a step is far more profound. A step is a signal. A symbol. A spiritual cue that you're in motion, not just physically, but mentally, emotionally, and purposefully.
A step can be…
-
A movement toward progress – Every step takes you further from where you were and closer to where you’re called to be. Even the smallest steps forward are acts of courage and obedience.
-
A rhythm in a dance – In life’s choreography, steps are not just about getting somewhere—they are about moving with grace, in harmony, with the Divine Conductor.
-
A level in leadership – Steps often represent stages in development. A higher step means higher responsibility. But with elevation comes refinement.
-
A measure of action – Taking a step implies you’re doing something. You're acting, not sitting passively. James 2:17 reminds us that “faith without works is dead”—faith steps do something.
-
A position in destiny – Each step you take is a placement in God’s divine design. You’re not just anywhere—you are somewhere on purpose.
To step spiritually means more than moving aimlessly—it means having momentum with meaning. It means walking in tandem with Heaven’s tempo, not reacting to the noise around you but responding to the still small voice within.
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way.” — Psalm 37:23
God doesn’t improvise when it comes to your life. He orders your steps with precision, love, and eternal foresight. They are not accidental. They are not random. They are not a spin of the wheel. They are set.
And if your life has felt like it’s going “round in circles,” it might be because your rhythm is off. You may be moving—but not in sync with the Composer. You may be dancing—but to a tune that Heaven didn’t score.
When we get out of rhythm, life becomes a blur of motion with no meaning. But when we surrender our tempo to the Holy Spirit, every step—even the ones that feel slow, delayed, or uncomfortable—becomes part of a holy choreography that leads us forward
A Life of Steps, Seasons, and Stages
Leadership is like a dance across the stage of life. There are seasons of stillness, moments of movement, and times where God changes the tempo. Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us that “to everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.”
Your stage in life matters—not just your age. Whether you’re stepping into your first job, launching a vision, raising a family, or transitioning into legacy work—every step requires discernment. Every stage carries responsibility.
The danger lies in stepping out of sync—allowing culture, crisis, or comparison to choreograph your life. That’s how circles happen. Cycles repeat. Songs stay melody-less. Stories stay without a moral.
But when your rhythm is God-given—when your steps are Spirit-led—you stop spinning and start soaring.
Scriptures That Ground Our Steps
Here are key Scriptures that emphasize divine direction in our leadership walk:
-
Psalm 37:23 – “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way.”
-
Proverbs 16:9 – “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.”
-
Psalm 119:133 – “Order my steps in Your word; and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.”
-
Proverbs 20:24 – “A man’s steps are of the Lord; how then can a man understand his own way?”
-
1 Peter 2:21 – “To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.”
These verses remind us: our steps aren’t random—they’re relational. Following Jesus means more than belief—it means choreography. It’s choosing to follow His lead, even when we don’t understand the rhythm.
Reflection Questions for Intentional Leadership
-
Am I stepping with purpose or spinning in circles?
-
What rhythm has God placed in my life—and am I in sync with it?
-
Which stage of life am I in right now, and how is God calling me to move differently?
-
What distractions have caused me to dance without direction or lead without melody?
-
What does it look like for me to “order my steps” according to God’s Word this week?
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,
I thank You for every step You’ve ordained for my life. Teach me to walk in rhythm with Your Spirit—not the chaos of this world. Align my heart with heaven’s tempo. Let every stage of my journey reflect Your glory—whether I’m just beginning or building legacy. Help me break the cycles that keep me spinning, and instead move with clarity, conviction, and calling. Order my steps, Lord, and let my leadership dance to Your divine melody. In Jesus’ name, amen.
If your life feels like it’s going in circles, stop and ask: Whose rhythm am I dancing to?
Because true leadership isn’t about moving—it’s about moving in step with the Spirit.
